About Kalinda
Kalinda helps class action law firms qualify potential cases in minutes with AI — giving plaintiff law firms the equivalent manpower of thousands of paralegals and legal nurses.
About the role
Skills: Python, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS)
About Kalinda:
Problem: The nature of class actions involves thousands of cases for a single lawsuit. For every plaintiff (injured person), law firms involved in these cases compile everything from the products they used to the injuries they have.
These firms work tirelessly to get a verbal account from their plaintiffs, follow up again and again to fill the gaps, and eventually record what they need. And that’s only half the supporting evidence — the rest is buried in thousands of pages of medical, financial, and employment records that demand just as much attention.
Mission: Over the next decade, Kalinda will accelerate how injured people around the world receive compensation for corporate negligence.
Right now, we have too much demand from law firms on our plate, and so we’re building an elite team to grow and scale faster.
As a cornerstone of this team, we’re hiring 1 founding engineer in-person at our San Francisco office.
Your role:
As a founding engineer of Kalinda, we’re looking for someone:
With high-agency who isn’t afraid to wear multiple hats in the product lifecycle.
Who’s comfortable with complete full-stack ownership over multiple aspects of the product such that they can iterate and ship quickly. The nature of our current sales process is forward-deployed, which means features and updates from our law firm customers come fast. At times, we may fly you in with us to on-sites.
With a drive for societal impact. We’re doing more than just building an AI platform for law firms here - it’s a faster path to justice. We’re helping families harmed by corporate negligence receive life-changing compensation sooner, at a moment when it can shift the trajectory of lives forever changed by injuries they can’t recover from.
This role will grow into Kalinda’s Head of Engineering.
Skills we’re looking for:
3+ years of software development experience
Comfortable working across the stack (frontend, backend, infrastructure)
Ability to move fast with incomplete information and make sound technical decisions
Experience designing scalable, maintainable architectures from scratch
Proficient in modern programming languages (Python), frameworks, and development tools
Familiar with cloud platforms, CI/CD, and basic DevOps practices
Product-minded: able to balance user needs, speed, and technical quality
Self-directed, ownership-driven, and comfortable wearing many hats
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Interest in startups and building from zero to one
About us:
Sayan (CEO) was an AI researcher at UC Davis’s LUKA Lab working on instruction tuning optimization, and Sohil (CTO) was previously an AI researcher at Pacific Northwest National Lab.
We’re brothers and have been collaborators since Day 1 with a proven track record of a successful partnership - co-founding and scaling a STEM non-profit together to 7000 students worldwide.
As a team we will frequently go for lunches, dinners, hang out with customers and relax together. Together we’ll build a generational company in this vertical, knowing that company culture is as valuable to us as building great product.
Location:
This role will be based out of Kalinda’s San Francisco office.
Technology
We build AI agents that read massive volumes of medical documents, extract specific qualifying facts, and act on them. On the voice side, our agents place real phone calls to law firm’s clients, handle multi-step conversations, verify personal details against lawsuit criteria, and book follow-ups without human supervision.
The technical work is in making this reliable at scale: coordinating long-running agents, handling partial failures, tracking state across calls and documents, and knowing exactly why an agent made a decision. The systems run in production today and have to work consistently, not just in demos.
