Mechanical Engineer, Power Systems at Electric Hydrogen Co.
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer, Power Systems to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you will support the design and development of high-power electronic products used in hydrogen electrolysis systems. You will work cross-functionally with electrical, systems, thermal, and manufacturing teams to develop robust mechanical solutions from prototype through production.
You will work a hybrid schedule and report to our Director, Power Platform.
Primary Responsibilities
Support the design and analysis of mechanical aspects of high-power electronic products supporting hydrogen electrolysis systems
Partner with lead mechanical designers on the layout and integration of power systems, thermal management solutions, and structural designs from prototype through production release
Create and release detailed drawings and documentation for parts and assemblies to support manufacturing and production
Perform detailed mechanical design of power bussing and bus interfaces for high-current DC output systems
Collaborate with systems optimization and modeling teams to evaluate power system performance and plant cost tradeoffs
Lead compliance efforts to certify products for US and EU markets
Support manufacturing, testing, and field deployment activities as needed
Contribute to design for manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability across product development efforts
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 5+ years of relevant industry experience, or a PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience
Experience designing mechanical systems for high-power electrical equipment or power distribution systems
Strong understanding of thermal management, structural analysis, and mechanical integration principles
Experience with product development processes and electronics packaging
Proficiency with 3D CAD software and detailed drawing creation
Experience supporting products from prototype through production release
Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in hydrogen, renewable energy, battery, power conversion, or industrial automation industries
Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) and thermal simulation tools
Experience working closely with manufacturing and supply chain teams
Knowledge of applicable industry standards for power systems and industrial equipment
