We’re looking for a Lead Backend Engieer to architect and scale the core systems powering our real-time voice AI platform. This is an early, high-impact role where you’ll shape the foundation of our product and directly influence its reliability, scalability, and performance. We’re a YC F25 startup growing at rocket speed with a lean team of <10 builders. Looking for: Founding Backend or Infrastructure engineers that have build scaleable systems. Candidates who have led or contributed to the 0 → 1 or 1 → 10 journey and thrived in startup environments, such as ex-founders or founding engineers. Have previously been in a fast growing & scaling team. Great at communications and fun to work with. Responsibilities: Architect and scale our core Voice AI platform leveraging FastAPI, WebSockets, and Kubernetes. Develop high-performance, event-driven architectures to power our core orchestration platform. Oversee infrastructure scalability and observability, ensuring reliability, resilience, and smooth system operations. Maintain and evolve the API platform that powers conversations, ensuring reliability, low latency, and seamless integrations with client applications. Required Skills: 5+ years of backend engineering experience with Python. Strong expertise in FastAPI, WebSockets, and event-driven architectures, with deep knowledge of asyncio and concurrency. Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-based deployments. Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, Redis, and scalable data storage solutions. Proven track record in performance tuning and optimization for high-throughput, real-time systems. BONUS: Demonstrated contributions to a Python project or open-source library.
