Principal Software Development Engineer, Digital Assets & Web3 at DriveWealth
About The Role
We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our Web3 Engineering team and help build DriveWealth’s digital assets platform. This is a highly technical, individual contributor, hands-on role focused on developing the core services, transaction infrastructure, and blockchain connectivity layers that power digital asset products at scale. You will implement secure, high-throughput backend systems supporting wallet operations, asset transfers, transaction orchestration, service providers integrations, and blockchain interactions. Working across distributed systems, cloud-native infrastructure, and modern Web3 technologies, you will help shape a platform that bridges traditional financial services with digital assets.
What You'll Do
Implementation design, develop, and operate core services for the DriveWealth Web3 Platform (DW3).
Build highly performant, fault-tolerant and secure distributed systems supporting digital asset transactions and crypto wallet operations.
Develop API-first services integrating blockchain networks, service providers, and financial systems.
Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka and asynchronous messaging patterns.
Build transaction orchestration, reconciliation, settlement, and asset movement workflows.
Develop secure services leveraging cryptographic signatures, key management, and authentication controls embracing zero trust architecture principles.
Maintain and produce technical documentation and testing frameworks within CI/CD pipelines.
Improve platform observability through metrics, tracing, logging, and OpenTelemetry instrumentation.
Optimize application performance, resiliency, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, technical leadership, and delivery best practices.
You Bring
8+ years of software engineering experience building production systems in regulated financial environments following enterprise-grade and best practices.
Extensive hands-on experience with TypeScript, Java, JavaScript, Spring Boot, Node.js, and NestJS.
Experience building Web3 platforms, wallet infrastructure, or blockchain-integrated applications. Proven experience using Web3.js, Ethers.js, WebJ, and blockchain SDKs.
First-hand experience delivering highly available, strong consistency and high-throughput distributed applications at scale. Strong expertise in concurrent, multi-threaded, and asynchronous programming.
Deep understanding of API-first architectures, microservices, and distributed systems design.
Strong experience with Apache Kafka, event streaming, and asynchronous processing patterns. Understand pub/sub and production-consumer messaging patterns.
Experience building and operating resilient, scalable and secure cloud-native applications.
Expertise implementing REST APIs, service contracts, and integration frameworks.
Experience implementing cryptographic signatures, and secure communications between services.
Experience and familiarity with AI-assisted development and AI tools.
Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, observability platforms, and production monitoring.
Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevSecOps, software security, and secure SDLC practices.
Strong commitment to engineering quality practices including automated testing, CI/CD validation, code reviews, and test-driven development methodologies.
Experience developing and maintaining automated unit, integration, and functional testing frameworks within CI/CD pipelines.
Strong technical writing skills with experience producing architecture documentation, API specifications, operational runbooks, and engineering standards.
Proven experience providing L2/L3 production support for business-critical systems, including incident management, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Special Knowledge (Nice to Have, But Not Required)
Hands-on experience with Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, XRPL, or other distributed ledger technologies.
Knowledge of blockchain transaction processing, smart contracts, and consensus mechanisms.
Experience building custody, wallet, or digital asset transfer platforms.
Familiarity with MPC, HSMs, key management systems, and cryptographic controls.
Experience implementing Zero Trust security architectures.
Knowledge of tokenization, stablecoins, settlement systems, and digital asset operations.
Contributions to open-source blockchain projects.
