The College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Front-end Software Developer to join the Management Information Systems (MIS) team. The post holder will be required to take a leading role in developing software for the management of college data and manage the integration of the MIS system with other college-wide systems.
The post is available with immediate effect on a permanent, full-time, full-year basis. The hours of work are from 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday (with 45 minutes unpaid lunch break). You will be required to work on-site during these times.
The College is committed to the development and evolution of its systems and the post holder will be expected to take a leading role in the complete software lifecycle, from analysis and design through to end user support, as well as play an active part in the wider work of the MIS Team.
The role will involve working with a collection of software systems, the majority of which are home grown and have been tailored to the processes and procedures used within the College. The development and improvement of these systems will be an essential part of the post.
The ideal candidate will have a high level of experience in programming, which will enable you to work on a variety of projects. Essential skills include:
The ability to write and develop applications in a variety of programming languages including Angular
Proficiency in the use of PHP
Experience of working with SQL databases
The College’s MIS system is a Java web application with an Angular front-end developed. Any successful candidate would need to be proficient or rapidly gain proficiency in these areas. Excellent IT and problem-solving skills will be required in addition to experience in developing web based front ends to databases. Previous experience of working with MIS systems in an educational environment is not essential. There will be an opportunity to work on the back-end College API using Groovy and Java and the College Portal using PHP.

The starting salary for this post is between £44,601 (Point 40) per annum to £48,997 (Point 44) per annum. Progression is on an annual increment scale to £51,861 (Point 44P4) per annum.
