Product Designer at Epoch
About the role
We are looking for a Product Designer to help us communicate our research. You will work with our current Product Designer to create user-centered websites, dashboards, and data visualizations. This work will be key for enhancing our engagement with the research community and stakeholders, and directly impact how our research is understood.
There are multiple backgrounds and skillsets that could be successful in this role. We’re open to working with promising candidates to clarify the scope and responsibilities of the role in a way that plays to their strengths and interests.
This role is fully remote, and we are able to offer contracts in many countries, but we have a strong preference for candidates in North and South American timezones. Responsibilities
Design responsive user interfaces, graphs, and visualizations
Uncover design solutions to user and company needs
Create design specifications
Make mock-ups and prototypes to explore and communicate design concepts
Ensure adherence to design systems and visual consistency
Depending on your interests and skills, you could get involved in other aspects of our work, such as contributing to our design library and conducting user research and usability testing
What we’re looking for
2+ years experience designing interactive digital products
A portfolio demonstrating experience in UI/UX and/or data visualization
Data fluency: ability to read a chart, identify its key takeaway, and communicate it clearly to others
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Strong grasp of typography, color, and layout principles
Ability to work comfortably in Figma, including auto-layout and components
Interest in Epoch AI’s work
Nice to have
Familiarity with Epoch AI’s research or related topics
Experience with scientific communication
Experience in illustration, branding
Familiarity with front-end development, HTML + CSS + JS
Experience with Python libraries like Matplotlib/Plotly or other data visualization programming tools
Good written communication skills

Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary between $100,000–$150,000 USD, depending on location and experience.
Salaries are not restricted to USD, and contracts and payments are usually in local currencies. Conversions are based on one-year average exchange rates.
