AgentCollect (YC S23) builds AI agents that recover unpaid invoices for enterprise clients. Hundreds of thousands of AI-powered calls and emails sent. 460 customers, profitable, growing.
This is not a normal engineering job. And this is not a normal hiring process.
WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
We are an AI-native team. Every engineer uses Claude Code, MCP servers, custom skills, and automated QA pipelines daily. Our CLAUDE.md file is 500+ lines of conventions, and our CI runs AI-powered code review on every PR.
You won't just use AI tools. You'll help build the infrastructure that makes the entire team 10x faster.
Our stack is Laravel 12 (PHP 8.4), MySQL, Redis, Laravel Nova, RetellAI voice agents, Telnyx, Stripe, SendGrid. Prior Laravel is NOT required: strong engineers ramp fast with AI.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
Voice agent infrastructure (RetellAI, Telnyx WebRTC)
AI-powered recovery pipelines (sequence orchestration, smart timing)
Enterprise integrations (Fortune 500 dashboards)
Internal tooling (MCP servers, Claude Code skills, automated QA)
Payment processing (Stripe Connect, installment plans)
REQUIREMENTS
Production full-stack experience in any modern stack (Laravel/PHP a plus, NOT required: strong engineers ramp fast with AI)
Daily AI tool usage (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar)
Strong engineering thinking: you plan before you code, question requirements, and propose architecture
English communication, async-first
Remote, anywhere in the world (US included): we hire the best engineer, not the timezone
HOW WE WORK (read this carefully)
We are tool-agnostic and stack-agnostic. If you are emotionally attached to one IDE, language, or framework, this is not the place. Disagree and commit: challenge a decision once, with data, then commit fully even if it was not your pick. Low ego, high output: we care what you ship and how fast you adapt, not your title or your years.
The founder codes daily and reviews every PR. Zero layers between you and decisions.
HOW TO APPLY
No leetcode. No whiteboard. We hire on how you think.
Reply to this listing with:
A short markdown about your last project: one ambiguity you faced, one tradeoff you made, one mistake, and one review comment that changed your mind.
A link to something you've shipped (a repo, a live product, or a demo).
Strong fits get a short paid challenge next: a real, ambiguous problem where we watch how you plan and ask questions before you build. Total process: a few days, async, zero wasted time on either side.
