At Zerigo Health, we're changing what it means to live with a chronic skin condition.
Millions of Americans with psoriasis and eczema face a broken system — months-long waits for care, treatments that don't stick, and costs that spiral out of control. We're fixing that. Zerigo's platform combines an FDA-cleared smart home device, AI-driven personalized care plans, and real human support to deliver clinical-grade dermatology care where people actually live — at home. Our results speak for themselves: 88% clinical success rates, 73% treatment adherence, and over $10M in savings generated for every 1,000 members on our platform.
We're a fast-growing, mission-driven team at a pivotal moment. We are energized by hard problems, improving things along the way to benefit our members and each other. If you are motivated by meaningful work and the prospect of building something that genuinely improves people's lives, you'll fit right in here.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Senior Software Engineer
The Engineer Behind the Platform
Zerigo Health’s platform is the clinical engine behind our patient outcomes — supporting our care plans, device integrations, and partner-facing tools that define our member experience. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a core contributor to that engine.
This is a high-ownership role at a company where engineering is not a cost center — it’s the product. You will work across the full development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to deployment and iteration, in close collaboration with clinical, product, and operations teams. You are expected to craft excellent code, think critically about system design, and take genuine pride in the quality and reliability of what you ship.
*BUILD *
Design & Implement
Architect and ship features and systems that power Zerigo’s platform — from member-facing care tools to partner integrations and internal data pipelines.
*OWN *
Operate &Improve
Take end-to-end ownership of systems in production — monitor, debug, improve, and ensure reliability for members and partners who depend on them.
*CORE DELIVERABLES *
What You Will Own
Platform Feature Development
Design, build, and ship product features across Zerigo’s platform.
System Architecture & Technical Design
Contribute meaningfully to technical decisions — API design, data modeling, service boundaries, and infrastructure choices. You’re expected to have opinions and defend them clearly.
Code Quality & Engineering Standards
Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code. Participate actively in code review — giving and receiving feedback that makes the team better, not just the code.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with clinical, product, and operations teams to translate complex requirements into reliable software. You are as comfortable in a requirements discussion as you are in a technical design session.
Production Reliability
Own the health of systems you build. Monitor, debug, and improve performance. Treat on-call as a shared responsibility, not a burden passed to someone else.
HOW THIS ROLE WORKS IN PRACTICE
A Day in the Life
On any given week, you might be designing a new API endpoint to surface clinical outcome data to a health plan partner — then spending the afternoon reviewing a pull request from a colleague and debugging a production latency issue. You bridge the gap between what the clinical and product teams envision and what reliably ships. You are equally comfortable thinking through a data model with an analyst and pushing a hotfix to production.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
What We Are Looking For
8+ years of software engineering experience
2+ years of mobile development (React Native, iOS, or Android)
Strong proficiency with React, React Native, Node.js, TypeScript, and MongoDB
Solid DevOps chops: AWS (S3, EC2, CloudFront, Route 53, Lambda), Docker, Git, modern CI/CD, and comfort owning deployments and releases
Real working proficiency with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.). You can talk about specific workflows you've built and judgment calls you've made
Hands-on experience building or working with LLM pipelines (prompt design, chaining, evals, tool use, retrieval, agents, or similar)
Strong cross-functional communication. You can work with product, clinical, design, and regulatory partners and translate between them when needed
Experience with security best practices and compliance frameworks (OWASP or equivalent)
Keep our work aligned with OWASP, HIPAA, FDA, and ISO 13485
THE IDEAL BACKGROUND
We are particularly interested in engineers who have worked in digital health, health plan, or healthcare SaaS environments — where data privacy, clinical accuracy, and regulatory context are not afterthoughts. That lived experience shortens the ramp time significantly and shows up in how you think about edge cases, data sensitivity, and stakeholder communication.
