Founding Software Engineer, Full Stack at Airweave (X25) €80K - €100K EUR • 0.25% - 0.75% Context retrieval for AI agents across apps and databases Amsterdam, North Holland, NL Full-time US citizenship/visa not required 3+ years About Airweave Airweave Mission & Values Our Mission We're building the connective tissue between AI and user data. Today's AI agents are brilliant but mostly blind: they can reason, plan, and execute, but they can't see what's happening across users' work. Every app is a silo. Every database is an island. We're changing that with a focused technical team and great customers, including one of the world's leading AI labs. Airweave turns scattered information into searchable and learned intelligence. We give agents the context they need by making sure the right information is there when decisions get made. The next wave of software will connect dots across systems and work alongside people naturally. That won't come from a bigger model. It will come from the hard work of connecting intelligence to the data in our work and world. We're building the infrastructure to make that possible. Our Values The systems we build are made to support real AI infrastructure. They're designed to handle complexity without adding noise, to surface what matters, and to hold up when it counts. We don't wait for specs or permission. High agency means finding what needs to be done and doing it, whether that's a gnarly bug, a missing abstraction, or a conversation no one wants to have. We zoom out to first principles and zoom in to the details, where the real problems live. We have bold opinions, loosely held. We say what we think, change our minds when the evidence points somewhere new, and don't pretend to know things we don't. The best idea wins, not the loudest voice. We bring these values to our product every day. Join Us We're a small team tackling a big problem. If you want to work on the systems that thousands of AI agents depend on, ship code that matters, and help define how intelligent software interacts with the world, we'd love to hear from you. The stack is young. The problems are real. The architecture is yours to shape. About the role We're looking for a full-stack founding engineer to help build Airweave's product layer that connects AI to user data. At Airweave, you'll work across the entire system: from the search pipelines that power AI agents, to the sync infrastructure that keeps data flowing, to the APIs, MCPs and frontend that developers use every day. You'll ship features that land in production the same day. This is early-stage work. The codebase is young, the architecture is evolving, and your decisions will shape how thousands of AI agents access information. --- What you'll work on Build and improve our multi-step, multi-index, distributed LLM search infrastructure Design and maintain our microservices layer: APIs, MCP servers, and async workers coordinated through Temporal and Redis Extend the sync engine that connects to dozens of sources and keeps data flowing reliably Ship frontend features in React/TypeScript that make complex workflows feel simple Contribute to CI/CD, observability, and the tooling that keeps the team moving fast You might be a fit if You've built and shipped applications end-to-end You like understanding how systems fit together, not just your slice You're comfortable moving between frontend and backend work You have familiarity with transformers, embeddings and vector search You've worked with async Python, TypeScript, or similar You're drawn to early-stage environments where things move fast and change often Bonus Points Experience with data pipelines, infrastructure (Terraform, Kubernetes), or ETL systems Background in distributed systems or workflow orchestration --- What We Offer Customers including one of the world's leading AI labs Competitive salary (€80K–€100K) with meaningful equity (0.25%–0.75%) Health, dental, and vision coverage Work in-person in the heart of Amsterdam (Herengracht) with a highly-skilled, technical team Direct impact on architecture and product direction from the first week Technology We're building distributed infrastructure that syncs, transforms, and indexes data from dozens of sources in real-time. This means on the infrastructure side: Auto-scaling workflows with Temporal and Kubernetes Multi-index, multi-step LLM search with Vespa Orchestration with Terraform and Helm Horizontally scaling PostgreSQL On the software side: Hosted MCP servers for agent integration Auto-generated SDKs and APIs designed for developers Python/FastAPI (probably moving to Go however) TypeScript/React We care about clean APIs, observable asynchronous systems, and code that's boring in the best possible way: predictable, testable, easy to reason about. The save the interesting complexities for the architecture. Interview Process 1. Founders call (30 min) – learn about our vision, share your story. 2. Paid work trial (2 days, on-site) – work on a real problem with the team. You'll get a feel for the codebase, how we collaborate, and whether this is the right fit for both sides. We cover your travel expenses. 3. Offer – we decide fast (usually within 24 hours).
