Position Summary
The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the Warehouse Manager in the day‑to‑day execution of warehouse operations across multiple site locations. This role is highly hands‑on and focuses on inventory accuracy, material availability, system compliance, safety, and workforce support to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
The Assistant Warehouse Manager works closely with Warehouse Supply Specialists, Maintenance, and site leadership to ensure spare parts and consumables are properly received, stored, issued, and tracked within Epicor. This position serves as a key operational extension of the Warehouse Manager and may act as the primary point of contact in the Warehouse Manager’s absence.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations & Inventory Control
Take a leadership role in daily warehouse operations across multiple site locations to ensure accurate, timely issuance of spare parts and consumables.
Create and continuously refine and improve warehouse processes that support efficient operations and accurate inventory.
Lead and teach by example, taking an active role in daily operations and warehouse improvement efforts.
Receive, inspect, and verify deliveries; ensure all materials are properly received and transacted in Epicor in a timely manner.
Organize warehouse, storage yards, and laydown areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, ease of access, and accurate counts.
Inventory Accuracy & Audits
Perform regular cycle counts and assist with resolving inventory discrepancies.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual physical inventories.
Ensure on hand balances in Epicor accurately reflect physical inventory.
Assist with auditing open purchase orders and following up on outstanding deliveries.
Systems, Reporting & Documentation
Utilize Epicor modules to process receipts, issues, transfers, and inventory adjustments.
Assist the Warehouse Manager with generating reports for management related to inventory value, usage, and variances.
Support cost‑reduction and cost‑savings initiatives by tracking data and preparing Excel‑based reports as required.
Maintain organized records of purchase orders, packing slips, and supporting documentation.
Supervision & Team Support
Provide day‑to‑day direction to Warehouse Supply Specialists as assigned.
Reinforce standard work, safety expectations, and accurate system transactions.
Assist with onboarding and training of new warehouse personnel.
Serve as a working lead and escalation point for operational issues during assigned shifts or in the Warehouse Manager’s absence.
Safety & Compliance
Comply with all Atlas Sand safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Assist with maintaining a clean, safe warehouse environment and addressing safety hazards promptly.
Attend and support all required safety meetings and initiatives.
Safely operate forklifts and other material‑handling equipment as required.
Cross‑Functional Coordination
Work closely with Maintenance, Production, and Procurement personnel to support operational priorities.
Communicate inventory issues, shortages, or risks to the Warehouse Manager in a timely manner.
Assist in identifying alternate materials, vendors, or substitutes in coordination with Maintenance and the Warehouse Manager.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Deep understanding of efficient warehousing principles.
Knowledge of warehouse auditing practices
3 years of direct warehouse, inventory, or materials management experience.
Experience with ERP systems (Epicor preferred) strongly desired
Strong attention to detail and a high sense of urgency
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to follow standardized procedures with some independent judgment
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications
Forklift experience required (certification preferred or ability to obtain)
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Regular use of hands to handle, finger, and reach materials
Required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as needed
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally more than 100 pounds with assistance
Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Must be able to tolerate conditions associated with warehouse and plant environments, including limited climate control
