Voice Engineer at Sagepilot AI
You'll own the voice stack end to end: LiveKit media pipelines, SIP/PSTN integrations (Exotel, Plivo), STT/TTS orchestration (Deepgram, AssemblyAI, ElevenLabs, Cartesia), call routing, and AI-to-human transfer flows. Mostly greenfield work, directly with the founding team.
What You'll Work On
LiveKit-based media pipelines for AI and human call handling
SIP/PSTN integrations with Exotel and Plivo
STT and TTS provider orchestration with low-latency delivery
AI-to-human transfer flows — warm transfers, hold logic, escalation
Call routing: IVR, queue management, agent assignment, fallback handling
Barge-in detection and turn-taking for natural conversation flow
Observability across voice systems (OpenTelemetry / SigNoz)
What We're Looking For
1–3 years of backend engineering experience (Python & Golang preferred)
Some exposure to real-time systems, WebRTC, or SIP/VoIP — willingness to go deep matters more than current depth
Strong async programming and distributed systems fundamentals
High ownership; moves fast without needing things fully specced
Bonus
Experience with LiveKit, Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, or any media server
Familiarity with SIP, RTP, or PSTN call flows
Prior work in conversational AI, contact centre tech, or CPaaS
