About Us
MECHANON is a Dubai-based venture studio that builds and incubates businesses from concept, with teams across Bangalore, Dubai and London. We're not an agency, a consultancy, or an outsourcing company, we build real businesses and therefore need from scratch builders. Our current focus is The Engine: a production intelligence platform for film and television.
The Role
We're hiring our first Product Designer. Basically, a zen master designer, should that exist. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role: you'll take our existing product concepts and turn them into beautiful seamless designs. This is a builder role for someone who thinks in flows and structure, designs, and wants to see their work shipped quickly by a small, fast-moving team. You'll work closely with our Platform Engineering Lead and the founder, and your designs will be built directly into the product by a dedicated Front-End Engineer joining shortly after you.
What you'll do
● Turn written product specifications into wireframes, user flows, and screen-by-screen designs
● Own the visual design system, typography, colour, components, across every part of the platform
● Design our core app pages, our conversion/paywall experience, and our public-facing marketing pages
● Keep the design system consistent as new pages and features are added
● Work directly with engineering to make sure what you design is what gets built
What we're looking for
● Real, shipped UX/UI design experience — with live products, not just concept work
● Comfort designing both flow/structure (UX) and finished visual design (UI) — this role covers both
● Strong, clear communication and the ability to explain design decisions simply
● Startup mindset — comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and direct founder feedback
● Based in, or willing to relocate to, Bangalore — this is a fully on-site role
Skills & Tools
● Strong wireframing, user flow, and information architecture skills
● Strong visual/UI design skills — typography, colour, componentry, layout
● Figma fluency — Auto Layout, Variables/design tokens, component libraries, and Dev Mode (or equivalent) for handoff
● Comfort designing in reusable, component-based systems
● Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and responsive design across desktop, tablet, and mobile
● Real experience designing conversion-critical flows — paywalls, checkout, trial-to-paid upgrades, or signup funnels
● Real experience designing complex, information-dense interfaces clearly — dashboards, admin tools, analytics products, catalogues, or search/filter-heavy apps
● Ability to create clean, developer-ready Figma files — interaction notes, responsive states, empty states, loading states, and edge cases
● Familiarity with product analytics concepts — activation, conversion, retention, funnels, feature usage
● Experience or strong interest in designing AI-assisted workflows, search interfaces, filters, recommendation systems, or chat-style product experiences
● Ability to create practical prototypes in Figma to explain user flows, interactions, navigation, paywall moments, search/filter behaviour, and key product states before engineering implementation
What doesn't suit this role
● Purely conceptual or award-driven portfolio work with no real shipping experience
● Preference for slow, heavily-processed design review cycles
● Remote or hybrid working — we're a small, in-person team by design
